For over 30 years I’ve been dutifully purchasing my western dress shirt’s from Lucchese’s Boot Store in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
The shirts were always a little “full”, but the advantage of western snap button breast pockets made the fit secondary.
The patterns were a hundred years old…but classic style never ages. Sleeves were always to long for a 5’10” XL man, so I’d roll them up.
Now, after a dozen Buttercloth shirts and jackets and even a masks, I finally found the perfect shirt.
The Lone Star Twilight in Blue corrected everything I was hankering for in a untucked western dress shirt. The color, the style, the sleeve length, tapered sides and shorter length. Color is perfect. Breast pocket(s) are perfect. I actually use both of them.
As if that weren’t enough. The inner lining of the collar and wrist cuffs are that small touch of affectation that defines the perfect shirt and therefor defines the man wearing it.
Sorry Gene, you road off into the sunset to soon.
I can almost see you riding on Champion, playing a tune on your guitar and wearing a Lone Star Twilight blue shirt.
